Hello all! Another cold day up at the Jack! Late start from the road closures but the skate lane got a grooming on it. No classic tracks around B-loop, Lower UW, or Rollercoaster. Classic tracks that were set yesterday are very blown-in in most spots. Don't get blown away out there! -Dan

01/30 Monday

Around 3” to 4” of new snow since yesterday.  All ski trails leveled and then groomed today.  Classic tracks set Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil’s thru Summit, Ridge, Blackjack and Alder.  Conditions may be a little soft with the new snow but, due to the lower temperatures, the base was firming up.   Parking lot update: The entrance was plowed and sanded midmorning today.  Half of the parking lot was plowed and sanded as well.   Good skiing, Randy

01/29 Sunday

Less than ½” of new snow when we started this morning.  It snowed lightly the entire time we were grooming this morning.  All ski trails groomed.  Classic tracks were still in pretty good shape.  Classic tracks set on Lower UW, Rollercoaster and part of Meadow.  Base is packed powder.   Parking lot has not been plowed.  Snow stacked up at the entrance will make it a little challenging when leaving the lot.   If you go skiing today, stay warm,  Randy

01/27 Friday

2” to 4” of new snow again.  Significant drifting occurred on most trails.  Because of the nature of this snow, we had to roll the ski trails first.  All ski trails were groomed today as well.  Classic tracks set on Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil’s thru Summit, Miners Loop, Ridge and Alder.  There will be some softer areas until the snow sets up.   The parking lot did not receive any attention today and has some drifting at the entrance.   Reminder the Jay Norton Memorial Pole Mountain Shuffle race is tomorrow morning.  Open to all.  For further information, please see the MBNA website.   Good Skiing, Randy

01/26 Thursday

All ski trails groomed today.  It’s a little breezy up there today so, even though every trail was groomed multiple times, it may be drifted.   The parking lot entrance was beginning to drift so, be mindful of that.   Reminder:  The Jay Norton Memorial Pole Mountain Shuffle is this Saturday morning.  Anyone can enter.  For more information please see the MBNA website.   Good skiing, Randy

01/19 Thursday

The ski trails were rolled again last nite.  All trails groomed today.  Conditions are soft, packed powder base.    The drift at the parking lot entrance was removed this morning.    A reminder:  Middle School Race is this coming Saturday.  Teams will begin arriving mid-morning, with the races beginning at noon.  This will be a classic race so, best line tracks will be set on Meadow, Phil’s, Ridge, Blackjack and Alder.  Please respect the tracks Saturday morning so the kids actually get to use them.   Good skiing, Randy

01/18 Wednesday

GREAT job on the snow dance.  6” to 8” of new snow this morning.  It snowed off and on into the early afternoon with an additional 2” accumulated.  Most ski trails rolled multiple times, the others were machine packed.   Have fun, Randy

01/16 Monday

Just shy of an inch of new snow fell overnite.  All ski trails groomed today.  Classic tracks reset on Campground and some of Meadow.  The Breeze was not helping keep the tracks open.  The tracks overall are fair to good condition depending on drifting. Conditions are good with a packed powder base.  Coverage remains good.   Have a fun ski, Randy

01/15 Sunday

All ski trails groomed this morning.  Classic tracks reset on Campground and Meadow.  The tracks on the rest of the trail system are fair to good condition.    The forecast is calling for some scattered snow showers today and then snow tonight.  Do the snow dance to ensure a dump!   Good skiing, Randy

01/13 Friday

All ski trails groomed this morning.  They groomed out pretty good today.  The surface is a little soft due to the warm temperatures.   Classic tracks on Campground and Meadow are in fair shape but, the rest of the trail system is in great shape with deep, narrow tracks.   The Forrest Service plowed the snow off the entrance/exit hill of the parking lot.   Good skiing, Randy

01/12 Thursday

Around 2+” of new snow since we rolled yesterday, maybe from the sky or from the breeze.  All ski trails groomed today.  Classic tracks set on all trails except for Chyt’s and Sprint.  Due to the new snow, the surface is soft.  Coverage is good to excellent.   FYI: the parking lot has some extra snow at the entrance, which is passible on the way in but, is a little more challenging on the way out.  It had not been plowed when I left around 2:30.   Good skiing, Randy

01/11 Wednesday

3”-4” of new snow as of this morning.  All ski trails rolled multiple times.   Good job on the snow dance.   Good Skiing, Randy

Tuesday, January 10

Beautiful day at Happy Jack! The snow is holding up and the trails are laying down! All skate lanes groomed out today. Classic tracks are staying in most places. There are a couple patches out on Summit but they are easily avoided. Keep up those snow dances! -Dan

01/09 Monday

All ski trails groomed.  Classic tracks set on Upper Vans, Summit, Miners Loop, “B” Loop, and Haunted Forest.  Tracks set yesterday seemed to hold up pretty well in most areas.    The ski trails are groomed and maintained thru donations and grants.  If you would like to donate to the cause, please go to the Medicine Bow Nordic Association website at medicinebownordic.org   Good skiing, Randy

01/08 Sunday

All ski trails groomed, yes finally, groomed today.  We’re right on the edge of having enough base depth to use the groomers.  Warm, dry weather is not our friend.  Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phils, Turnpike, Moose, Ridge and Alder had classic tracks set.    Good skiing, Randy

01/07 Saturday

3” to 4” of Beautiful, new snow since yesterday.  All ski trails rolled multiple times.  Get your skiis, and get out there and enjoy!   Good skiing, Randy

01/06 Friday

No new snow overnite but, it snowed most of the time we were working.  We got the groomers out for awhile this morning on some of the closer in trails.  We were able to remove some of the drifts and generally level the ski trails.  Due to the lack of base depth, on several trails, we are unable to begin regular grooming yet.  We will continue to work to make your ski experience as good as possible.   Have a great ski, Randy

01/05 Thursday

Hard to tell if we got a dusting of new snow, or if the breeze brought some onto the trails.  All ski trails smoothed this morning.  The base is firming up and coverage remains good.   Time to start thinking about a new version of the snow dance you’d perform.  We could use some more snow…   Good skiing, Randy

01/04 Wednesday
