03/12 Friday
All ski trails groomed this morning. The thin areas are still around, for at least another day. Classic tracks were holding up pretty well except for those in the Campground. Most of those were annihilated by, what I was told, was a local group of school kids on a snowshoe outing. Later on, people walking with young children on skiis, finished the job.
According to forecasters, big storm is on the way. Maybe all that snow dancing is paying off in one weekend...
Good skiing, Randy
Yesterday morning students from the Montessori School had a fantastic time on our local trails using snowshoes provided by Basecamp. We also had a fantastic time on the trails teaching preschool children to ski-which as you know requires a free hand. We've been teaching these FREE Friday morning lessons for the past 8 weeks. The comments on this grooming report about this situation are unprofessional and reflect poorly on the MBNA. They send the message that the trails are only for a select few and all others are unwelcome. We'd love to work together to find a solution and possible location for a training/teaching area so that we can all continue to enjoy the trails. This year we taught over 100 children how to ski through our paid and free ski lessons, we'd love to find a way to work together. Our winter programming is only growing. We want Randy and Dan to know how much we appreciate their hard work along with the support of the MBNA to keep our ski trails maintained. We appreciate the effort that goes into grooming our local ski trails. We know their job is difficult and they are under appreciated but these are public trails for all, children included.
ReplyDeleteLast few times I was there, there were a few school buses full of kids. All were having fun, while staying to the side as best they could (etiquette is part of teaching, for my own kids as well). That said: could you simply request/bring snowshoes (if not skis) for parents, and avoid walking on or right near the classic tracks? Extra details aside, that seems like a simple starting solution that hadn’t been considered, and may have avoided the entire situation. Thanks for considering!
