04/29 Saturday

Well… We can’t groom what we don’t have!  Mother nature has apparently made the decision to change seasons.  Ski trail grooming for this season has come to a close.  It was sure great to make some new friends, and to see old ones.  Thanks to all!   Have a safe and enjoyable summer, and we’ll see you next winter.   Thanks, Randy and Dan

04/28 Friday

Around 3” of new snow.  Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil’s thru Van’s rolled this morning.  The snow is very thin in multiple areas.  Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  I can’t imagine doing any more trail work after this weekend.  Be safe and have fun.   Randy

04/27 Thursday

Several bare areas in the ski trail system.  We were not able to groom today and, depending on the snowfall in tonight’s storm, we may be done for the season.  In any case, grooming for this season will conclude very soon.    Randy

04/26 Wednesday

A trace of new snow overnite.  Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, and Phil’s thru Van’s groomed today.  Upper UW, and the outbound side of Phil’s are not going to receive any more grooming unless the storm Thursday nite forces a change.  Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  Thin areas, open areas and trail narrowing are all present.  Be careful and have fun.  Sarah says “sparse and scant but surprisingly skiable.”   Randy

04/25 Tuesday

1 to 2 inches of new, wet snow.  Campground was groomed but, the snow turned due to the temperature, and began plugging up the groomers.  We were unable to groom any more of the trail system.  We will see if we get any more snow, and the temps actually drop by tomorrow morning.  We are at the beginning of seasons end.   Randy

So much Sun

The sun has been out and is out on the trails. A lot of open spots out there. Still ways to get around but we are getting to the end of grooming. This will be our last week. The same top trails were groomed today. Spring conditions everywhere. There is a chance of weather this week, things may change. Have an excellent week! -Dan

Bluebird Day

Absolutely beautiful up at Happy Jack right now! That will change but for no the sun is shining and it's very calm. About half an inch of new snow overnight really freshened up the trails! Same trails as yesterday groomed: Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's through Van's. New snow with sun will get sticky quick, spring conditions. Continue to be vigilant of lurking dangers just under the snow! -Dan

Late season fresh snow!

Got some new snow overnight, about two inches fell. This helped freshen the trails that were groomed yesterday but I would not recommend the other trails. The snow covered a lot of the bare spots on the trails so look out for lurking stops today. Trails groomed: Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's through Van's. Have a great weekend! -Dan

TGIF

Another colder one up at Happy Jack. From yesterday to today we really did not loose much more snow. The frozen conditions are staying frozen. All trails from yesterday where groomed today. Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's through the top of Van's.  Have a great day! -Dan

Colder, cloudy day today

Overnight temps dropped last night and the trails froze up pretty hard, this definitely helps the little snow we have left. Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's through the top of Van's where all groomed today.  Spring conditions everywhere! Be ready for anything out there! -Dan

04/19 Wednesday

The seasons are a changin’.  Ridge has a large open area at the beginning and Alder has a large open area at the end so, neither will be groomed any more this season.  There is a large open area at the beginning of Phil’s but, the rest of the trail is holding up well as of today.  Beginning tomorrow, Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, and Phil’s thru Van’s will be what we attempt to groom.  Be safe and have fun.   Randy

04/18 Tuesday

All ski trails except the Summit complex, Rollercoaster, Sprint and Chyt’s groomed this morning.  Lower UW and Blackjack will not be groomed anymore this season.  Mother Nature is thinning the base to prepare for spring.  We are trying to keep Ridge and Alder open by shoveling some snow but, we may shut them down in the next day or two.  Campground, Meadow, Upper UW and Phil’s thru Van’s are holding enough snow to remain skiable at present.  Constantly changing spring conditions are in full swing.  Be safe and have fun.   Randy

04/17 Monday

The sunshine and warm temps had quite an impact on the snow base.  There has been further narrowing of the trails.  The Summit complex(Summit, Miners Loop and B Loop) will not be groomed any more this season, in addition to Rollercoaster, Sprint and Chyt’s.  The beginning of Lower UW is almost gone and will likely be placed on the no more grooming list tomorrow.  The good news is that there is still some good skiing to be had on Upper UW, and Phil’s thru Van’s.  Ridge and Alder are holding up for the time being as well.  Be aware of constantly changing spring conditions.   Be safe and have fun, Randy

04/16 Sunday

All ski trails groomed.  The trails groomed out very well.  Coverage was good on all except Rollercoaster, Sprint and Chyt’s which will not be groomed any more this season.  Constantly changing spring conditions exist so, be careful and have fun.   Good skiing, Randy

04/15 Saturday

Maybe a couple of inches of snow since we groomed yesterday.  We had the ski trails partially groomed and a squall came thru and dropped another 2+ inches on the trails this morning.  So, we groomed again.  All ski trails groomed except Rollercoaster, Sprint and Chyt’s which will not be groomed again this year.   Good skiing, Randy

04/14 Friday

2”+or- of new snow this morning.  It snowed from light to moderate the entire time we were up there.  All ski trails, except Rollercoaster, were groomed today.  We were able to integrate the new snow into the old.  Due to the lower temperature, the base set back up and was firm.    Good skiing, Randy

04/13 Thursday

We lost a lot of snow yesterday.  All ski trails have some narrowing.  Rollercoaster has multiple bare areas that are completely across the trail and will not be groomed again unless we get good snowfall.  Lower UW, Blackjack and Summit have noticeable bare areas and will be evaluated after tonight’s storm. Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  All ski trails groomed.  Be safe and have fun.   Good skiing, Randy

04/12 Wednesday

All ski trails groomed this morning.  There is more bare ground showing along the trails.  Coverage remains good on all except Rollercoaster.  Rollercoaster has some open spots in the middle of the trail.  Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  Be safe and have fun!   Good skiing, Randy

04/11 Tuesday

All ski trails groomed.  Coverage remains good, with a little narrowing on a couple of trails.  Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  Be safe!   Good Skiing, Randy

04/10 Monday

The higher temps and sunshine are thinning our base.  Coverage remains great at this time.  Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  Be safe and have fun.   Good skiing, Randy

04/09 Sunday(Easter)

All ski trails groomed.  Coverage is great.  Conditions are constantly changing.   Have fun, Randy

04/08 Saturday

All ski trails groomed today.  Conditions started off hard packed with an ice sheen showing in multiple areas.  We were able to soften up the surface some and a cloud cover delayed the slush.  Classic tracks remain deep.  Constantly changing, spring conditions exist.   Have fun, Randy

04/07 Friday

The day started with the base fairly firm, and then softening up as the day progressed.  All ski trails groomed this morning.  Classic tracks set on Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil’s thru the Summit complex, Ridge and Alder.  Lots of sunshine and warming temps.  Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  Be safe and have fun.   Good skiing, Randy

04/06 Thursday

Hard to say if we got a little new snow, or some just blew in.  We had some drifting with this last storm, so we took multiple grooming passes on all ski trails.  We were able to “level” the trails in many areas.  Conditions may be soft in areas but, there is some wonderful corduroy to be had.   Good skiing, Randy

04/05 Wednesday

5” to 7” of new snow.  All ski trails rolled multiple times this morning.  Even though the temperature was low, the sun was high and warmed the snow to the point we could not use the groomers today.   Have fun, Randy

04/04 Tuesday

Due to the timing of the closed roads, there will be no grooming today.   Randy

04/03 Monday

All ski trails groomed this morning.  The base was pretty firm again today but, we were able to loosen the surface.  A squall came thru while we were grooming and left a dusting of new snow.    We could sure use some fresh snow so, do the dance with a little enthusiasm!   Good skiing, Randy

04/02 Sunday

Spring conditions exist.  After yesterday’s warm temperatures, the base froze overnite.  We were able to soften the top of the base in most areas.  Classic tracks are frozen in and were not addressed.   Good skiing, Randy

04/01 Saturday

Base was firm this morning.  We were able to loosen up the surface some and now the sun will soften it.  Classic tracks remain in good condition.    Good skiing, Randy
