Medicine Bow Nordic Association Grooming Report

As of today, all grooming will cease for the season. Well, this year was a wild ride.  We lived on the edge of barely enough snow for a long time and we also had a pandemic.   Many thanks to those new friends we made and old friends we got to see again.   If all goes as planned, we will have a few new surprises for our skiers come next season. For Dan, and myself, thanks again for allowing us to be your groomers and have a fantastic summer. Randy

Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, and Phils thru Van's groomed today.  The base didn't freeze overnite so, we were able to smooth out the ski trails rather nicely.  The base held up surprisingly well from Saturday, especially considering the warm temps.  Today's sunshine and wind may just about do in the base for this season...  time will tell. Constantly changing spring conditions exist.  Be safe and have fun. Randy

The warm temps and sunshine have done our base no favors.  Ridge, Blackjack and Alder will not be groomed again this season unless we receive significant snow.  Campground, Meadow, Phils thru Van's still have enough base to continue grooming, at present. My crystal ball is a little foggy but I think this may be the last weekend for grooming this season. Remember, constantly changing spring conditions exist.   Have fun and be safe, Randy 

And we are back to spring skiing! About 1" of snow overnight groomed out really well but the sun is out and there are no guarantees how long it will last! Ridge was looking thing so Ridge, Alder and BlackJack only got one pass. Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's thru Van's, Haunted Forrest all were groomed today and looking good! No new snow as of this morning.  The ski trails that we've been grooming the last several days, were groomed again this morning.  We had hoped to incorporate some of the snow from today's predicted storm but, the storm is apparently slow in reaching us. Yesterday's higher temps and sun did the ski base no favors.  Multiple bare areas showed up on most ski trails with Ridge, Blackjack and Alder having the most.  Where there is still snow, it did groom out pretty good... Made it to the weekend! Snow was looking really good on the trails today, about a half inch of new snow overnight. Got the groomer back out today and hit all the trails that we had rolled the past couple days. Snow was looking smooth. Trails groomed: Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's thru Van's, Gobi's, Ridge and BlackJack. Have a great day! -Dan

3"+ of new snow since yesterday.  Campground, Meadow, Phils thru Van's, Upper UW, Ridge, Blackjack and Alder rolled multiple times.  Coverage has improved but, the  base is a little soft. Good skiing, Randy

1" to 2" of new snow.  Campground, Meadow, Phils thru Van's, Upper UW, Ridge and Alder rolled today.  We are still in need of a deeper base in order to groom.  The forecast is for measurable snow this afternoon and tonight on the ski trails.  We will see what we get tomorrow and go from there. The forecast was for 6" and we got 3+".  We rolled Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phils thru Van's, Ridge and Alder.  We need more snow to do any more work on the ski trails as multiple thin areas exist.  We'll do what we can with what we got... Good skiin', Randy

Hello all, I am sorry to report that after skiing the trails this evening we have lost too much snow to continue grooming.  We won't be grooming any of the trails unless we see a lot of snow really soon. It has been an absolute pleasure to groom for all you wonderful people. Stay safe and have a great summer! -Dan

Hello skiers! More melting happening up on the trails, a lot of spots opened up around round about and on the trails. Because if this we are coming down to our last days of grooming, unless we see some more snow soon. Trails that were groomed today: Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's thru Van's. Don't get blown away up there today! -Dan

A little new snow! About an inch fell overnight. It's warm new snow with a lot of moisture in it. It tried to cover all the bare spots but didn't do so great. So all the trails that were groomed yesterday were hit today. Those trails are: Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's thru Van's, Haunted Forrest and Gobi's. Enjoy it while it's there! -Dan

Hello skiers! A lot of sun on the trails yesterday, we are getting down to the last days. Campground, Meadow, Upper UW, Phil's out through Vans and Gobi's where all groomed. Haunted Forrest got one pass today but that will be it's last. Have a great day! -Dan

Another hot day! Snow is still looking good on Campground, Meadow, Upper UW and Phil's through Vans and BlackJack. It was the last pass for Summit trail, there are a couple sections where I could not get the groomer through. Ridge, Haunted Forrest and Gobi's are all on there last days as well, we will see how the sun hits them the next couple days. Have a great week! -Dan

Happy Easter! It's another beautiful day at Happy Jack! Warm again but with just enough cloud cover to keep the trails firm. Wet snow, but it groomed well.   All trails were groomed today except Lower UW and Rollercoaster.  Summit got hit pretty hard by the sun yesterday so today was probably it's last day. It's another sunny day!! But there is still a lot of snow on the trails. Everything except Lower UW and Rollercoaster was groomed today. Most of the ridges groomed out and it was looking pretty flat but the sun in definitely penetrating the snow, spring skiing. Have a great weekend! -Dan

Sun's out! All the trails were groomed today and it is spring skiing! The trails turned out pretty good but both Lower UW and Rollercoaster had bare spots poking through and impacting grooming. That will probably be the last groom of the season for those two trails. Don't forget your sunscreen! -Dan

Happy First of the Month! I can't believe we made it to April!  The snow is still looking good on a lot of the trails but it is getting sunny and warm up there. All trails were groomed today! Spring conditions are present on the trails. Lower UW and Rollercoaster both had a couple spots where the ground was showing through. I was able to get the groomer around both spots but I'm not sure how long that snow is going to last in this sunshine. Have a great month! -Dan
