01/31 Sunday

The base continues to thin and firm up with the current weather.  We have noticed, in the last 2 days, that several more thin/dirt spots appearing.  That said, trails remain passable with the exception of Chyt's and Summit.  Summit is 95% passible, with the bare area on a downhill, at and beyond a corner.  The very begining and the very end of Chyt's is covered while the area in between is not. It seems like I'm writing of late spring conditions and that would be fair to say.  With current temps and sunshine, the conditions will change considerably in one day. The answer is snow.  The predictions are for snow toward the middle of the coming week.  Let's all do our part and dance for snow!  Not just enough to get by until we get another 2'' but, enough to thoroughly cover the ski trails and establish a solid base.  Do the dance with reckless abandon! Good skiing, Randy

01/28 Thursday

The warmer temps today didn't do us any favors.  The base seemed to settle some from Wednesday to this morning.  There is still good skiing to be had but, we had multiple thin spots show today that weren't showing yesterday.  According to the latest forecast, it will be warm again tomorrow and then cooler Saturday.  Maybe...  a little shot of snow Friday nite. Reminder: A Middle School race will occur at noon on Saturday.  Due to the pandemic, participation will be less than in the past.  It will last for about 2 hours. We desperately need some "successful" snow dancers.  Whatever effort you have given thus far is appreciated, regardless of how innefective it has been.  Try something different, maybe even kooky.  It sure won't make it worse... Good skiing, Randy

01/26 Tuesday

A dusting of new snow overnite.  It snowed off and on most of the morning for an accumulation of about an inch total.  All ski trails rolled.  The base is building a fraction of an inch at a time. Good skiing, Randy

01/25 Monday

About 1/2" of new Friday nite, 1" new Saturday nite, and a light dusting last nite.  We are slowly creeping up on getting a base established.  All ski trails rolled multiple times in the last 3 days.  Coverage has improved slightly.  We we keep doing what we can with what we've got.  Good skiing, Randy

01/21 Thursday

All ski trails rolled today.  The coverage is pretty good, with a thin base in multiple areas.  Skiers, in most areas can ski by the ultra thin/bare areas.   Reminder: Races Saturday morning(UW) and midday(high school), Sunday morning(UW).  Due to current circumstances, participant numbers will be lower than in recent years. Good skiing, Randy

Monday, Jan 18

Fresh snow today! About three inches fell overnight. All trails were rolled today! Have fun in the freshies! -Dab

01/16 Saturday

About 3" of new, unscheduled snow last nite.  All ski trails rolled multiple times today.  Conditions are improving but, we still need more snow for complete coverage. Good skiing, Randy

01/15 Friday evening

I was up this afternoon and cleared the remaining trees.  Also, Summit and Sprint were rolled a couple of times, along with another pass on Lower and Upper UW, Rollercoaster, and Phils thru Van's. Good skiing, Randy

Friday, Jan. 15

Hello! Quick update for today. Wind is still blowing and snow is still moving around. About half an inch overnight rolled out on all trails except Summit.  Have a great weekend! -Dan

01/14 Thursday

1"+or- of new snow.  Multiple trees came down.  All trails rolled and cleared except for Summit, Gobis, Chyts and Sprint.  I was told Summit had no downed trees as of early afternoon, there was 1 down on Gobis.  It was unknown if Chyts and Sprint had any downed trees.  Any new snow is GOOD.   Have fun, Randy

01/10 Sunday

Around 3" of beautiful, dry, new snow fell on the ski trails.  All trails rolled multiple times.  Any new snow helps but, we are still in need of more help... Good skiing, Randy

01/08 Friday

We received 1" to 2" of light, dry new snow last night.  All ski trails rolled today.  Any new snow is an improvement for the trails, even if this year it is small steps. The weatherman says we might get some new snow Saturday afternoon thru the night.  Do the dance to make it deep. Good skiing, Randy

01/06 Wednesday

Somewhere between a skiff and a half inch of new snow.  This makes the areas that previously had snow better for skiing.  We rolled the entire trail system this morning.   Have a good ski, Randy

01/05

A skiff of new snow early this morning.  Rolled all ski trails except Rollercoaster and Lower UW.  There were a few trees down that we cleaned up. Base conditions remain thin to very thin.  Firm where there is snow. Also, an FYI: there is a Middle School race scheduled for this coming Saturday.  Start time is noon.  Of course, conditions dependent. Randy

01/02 Saturday

We rolled a few trails that were a little soft on the sides.  Also, we got a few trail maps hung at intersections to help with the reroutes. The base is thin to barely there on a few areas.  Also, to answer the often asked question about the base damage from walkers - the base is too thin to use a groomer so we are unable to repair the surface. Good skiing, Randy

01/01/21 Happy New Year!

This morning, we pulled the fencing on Alder.  We rolled Ridge, Alder and the new Sprint trail multiple times.  The snow is dry and grainy, so it will take some time to setup.   We have installed new directional signage on the trail system.  For everyone's safety please respect the signs. Lets start the new year with a new snow dance! Randy
